Actually teddybears were not in my mind until 1995. Before this date I dedicated myself to porcelain dolls: designing, forming, and casting them up to the difficult final handling; this was my world. Then in 1995, visiting a dolls- and teddybear-fair, I experienced the diversity of teddybears and recognized the creative possibilities for me as a fashion designer – a new love was born. Perhaps the talent for creative shaping of textile materials was put into my cradle by my grandmother, who led a renowned dressmaker studio in Berlin. So I had my first sewingmachine at the age of seven, and it was nearly inevitable that, after highschool, I conducted an apprenticeship as a tailor and finished with the mastercraftman´s certificate. Afterwards I worked for many years as a fashion designer until my daughter was born. When she was old enough I was looking for a new fulfilling work. So I came from the fashion line to the dolls and finally to the teddybears, a natural connection of both. Since that 16 years have passed and my teddybears are at home all over the world. Meanwhile numerous national and international awards are acknowledgements for my artistic work. An exceptional honour for me is the presentation of my TOBY-Industry´s Choice Winner “Oscar with mice Celine and Tommi” in the Teddybearmuseum in Hongkong. Teddybears nearly are to consider as human beings and so I attach great importance to design each bear to have his own unique personality. I particularly like to dress my bears; in doing that my early experience as a fashion designer is very precious. The material which I use for my bears is only high-quality mohair or alpaca, in exceptional cases comparable materials. Usually I create my bears as individual items ranging in sizes from 6 to 24 inches. During the past years my teddybears even got friends: Briddy-Mice in special individual arrangements!
